Vein Mission, July 2024

Week One: A Focus on Vascular Health

Our mission began with the incredible contributions of Philomina Duesdiker, a skilled sonographer, and her talented student, Isabel Barajas. Together, they performed an astounding 210 Doppler ultrasounds, meticulously preparing patients for the arrival of our vascular team. Their efforts laid a strong foundation for the comprehensive care that followed.

With a total of 17 volunteers, many of whom were first-timers from Canada, our team was brimming with enthusiasm and commitment. The first week set the stage for what would be an impactful and transformative mission.

Week Two: Comprehensive Patient Care

The second week saw an impressive 453 patients receiving care, reflecting the immense need and our team’s unwavering dedication. Our medical efforts included 363 additional Doppler ultrasounds were done, 66 wound care treatments, 204 sclerotherapy sessions, and 116 laser and radiofrequency procedures. Each procedure brought relief and hope to our patients, reaffirming the significance of our mission.

Additionally, A Huge thanks to MEDI-Compression Legwear, every patient received medical compression stockings, with Chris Miles, Medi’s Representative, who was also named our MVP for our medical mission, carefully measuring each patient to ensure a perfect fit, thereby enhancing their recovery and comfort.

Assistants Britanny Mackenzie and Ashlynn Rae, along with medical students Claire Conelly and Morgan Cody, demonstrated exemplary teamwork and dedication. We were also thrilled to welcome back Josh Lorenzen, whose continued commitment and enthusiasm were a tremendous asset.
